The reason why we are not in a depression right now is simple: extreme fiscal and monetary stimulation. The much maligned and spat upon Greenspan and Bush have been doing exactly the correct thing IMHO. They are doing exactly what Hoover and then Roosevelt should have done in the late twenties and thirties. The great depression could have been avoided. Hope this does not start a big political free for all (I hate politics).
