I wouldn't be surprised but I refuse to lead a paranoiac life. Think a sec about what legalization would mean. It would turn a major drain of dollars that go out of our country on a yearly basis (supporting SA drug lords) into revenue for the government (since they could tax it more than tobacco). It would also finally rescue all the tobacco farmers that have been put out of business.... Pot is already the unofficial (of course) leading cash crop in Alabama, Kentucky, Tenn. and a bunch of other states. There's no evidence that legalization would lead to anymore abuses as there already are. People that smoke and drink will do so, people that don't won't.
