Paul's gospel is not the only 'Biblical source'. Several in the 'Old Testament' appear to approve of slavery (so long as you take your slaves from a neighboring tribe, so long as you get a fair price when you sell your daughter into slavery, etc.)

I've been working on an ideal Presidential Platform, here's how it goes: Taxes--First 20,000 of earned income is totally tax free, even of payroll taxes. Those earning OVER 200k a year pay a 1/2% surcharge to be put into the SS accounts of those making under 20k. All other income taxed at a flat 12% with 2% to go to repay govt debt and govt live on the 10%. IF that is insufficient a 2% VAT. Economy--For all people currently living in HUD housing or other Govt. subsidized housing the govt set up a fund (guarantee not actual cash) to LEND each person who wishes to have a home built of their own up to 70,000 each (construction loan). Banks make the loans, govt guarantee them up to 75%. (same as SBA). (this could accomplish two purposes, first to supply many jobs in the many industries related not just to construction but to housing in total. Second-this would allow people to finally OWN their own home which OUGHT to make them more responsable. People would have to qualify income wise BUT since the loan is 75% backed by the Govt interest rates should be very fair. Next a study of all highways and bridges to be finished up in 6 mos. and the transportation account opened to bring all up to federal standards ASAP. (this helps our infrastructure) Military--US Marine Corps expanded to 4 active Divisions. I pick the Marines to expand in as I believe most wars we fight in the future will be of a nature similar to that we are fighting now. No need for snazzy fighters and aircraft carriers, just men on the ground properly equipped. All other Special forces increased 10% for same reason. HealthCare: Medicare expanded down to age 55 with those persons under 65 who wish to join paying the full premium NOT underwritten by the Govt, BUT giving them access to the largest medical group in the USA and NO SIGNIFICANT RED tape needs to be added, we already have the process's. This should be a WIN WIN for everyone as they will be healthier then the over 65 group, yet paying the full premium will strengthen the pool, while at the same time those people under 65 will have access to the pool. Additionally, provide FREE medical insurance through a Medicaid or expanded Medicare program for all families with total income under 20k a year for individual or 30k a year for family. (this IMHO net costs out to nothing as otherwise these people go into clinics and get free care as it is but preventative medicine would reduce the cost. Well, thats the primary thrust of what I think would be a good platform and one people would go for. Whaddya think? jdn
