JF, Did Bush carry WA in 2K? No. Gore swept the west coast. We should go to the popular vote. I'm not against that, as long as we can implement a system of nationwide recounts if the election is close. Tenchusatsu

Did Bush carry WA in 2K? John, bite your tongue! Don't ever curse in my presence again!! LOL! No, Gore won WA State even with votes diverted to Nader. I am not exaggerating when I tell you there is considerable dislike for Bush in this state. Coming from the Chicago area originally, FL is very strange. People think it's a bunch or retired people, but the fact is the demographic has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Yes, I know......my cousins live there. I think its always been a fairly diverse population age wise. The Northern part of the state is primarily Republican (some would say redneck), the Southern part of the state primarily Democrat, and in the middle (the I4 corridor), it's evenly split. In the center of the state, you've got two metro areas, Orlando and the Tampa Bay area. As you know we "decided" the last election (with some help from the SC), and it looks like the Rep's and Dem's think we will be the swing vote in this one (I don't think so, too predictable). There is talk here that a lot of people who haven't voted in years are registering to vote. However, I don't know if that's really true or not. That's why I think the electoral college system sucks. We should go to the popular vote. You will average out the people who are not paying attention, but by fluke have a demographic impact beyond their numbers. I agree.......its a ridiculous way to run an election. Unfortunately, I think it will take a Constitutional amendment to make it happen. BTW you keep misspelling Cheney's name [Chaney]. Did you know that? ted
