The inability to see that there is reason to be troubled by it is thick- headed, yes. It is not simply a slam- dunk equity issue, insofar as it strikes at the ability of society to uphold norms, and therefore weakens the ability of the society to encourage family formation and sustenance. It is one thing to accommodate those who are unable to conform to strict social demands, because of their psychological make- up, and another to say that society cannot maintain even last- ditch distinctions about its preferences. However, it is a complex issue that should be fairly debated on all sides.......
