The Catholic Church has never apologized for the Gospels. That is a complete falsehood. The Catholic Church has apologized for the historical mistreatment of Jews by people who misunderstood the Gospels and warped the faith. Many times. Not just Vatican II, but earlier, e.g., Trent.

I apologize in advance to Lindy - but this is historical revisionism of the most pernicious sort, and has nothing to do with personal expressions of faith. It's a sly attempt to win the argument - are the Gospels themselves anti-Semitic? - by asserting that the Catholic Church conceded the issue by apologizing already.

I think I've said all I have to say, but this whopper was just too big to let pass by.

E - thank you for clarifying that your position - that the Gospels themselves are anti-Semitic - is shared by your husband. I don't see any reason to keep arguing. We're too far apart to generate light, just heat. We'll be reduced to shouting "is!" "isn't!" and there's no point to that. If you don't want to see the movie, don't buy a ticket.
