Reagan said the S+L debacle was "free enterprise", his exact quote when he signed the bill deregulating S+L's was "this is a great day for free enterprise". Cheney and others told us the phony energy crisis was simply "free market" conditions and should be left alone. Now we know that massive fraud was being commited in both cases, and in both cases some if not most of it by close Reagan and Bush-Cheney alies who gave copiously to their campaigns. Both scams were centered in Texas. Both were the two biggest ripoffs of the US people in history.
