lurqer,

Re: ....Moyers last night, was sorry to see that he's leaving -

Same here. Moyers has been one of the consistently superior stars of the PBS pantheon.

I've followed David Brancaccio for a number of years now. I was rather surprised that he was picked as Moyers' sidekick. When Brancaccio was a Marketplace, I eventually got to the point where I didn't even want to bother with listening because the segments were so insipid and trivial. He was certainly not covering the same business world of corporate meltdowns, central bank intrigue, PPT interventions, currency and precious metals speculation, peak oil and other hot topics that we were covering in much greater depth here at SI.

My immediate reaction when I heard that Brancaccio was moving up to be the chief host at NOW was to resent that the corporatists and the right wing had captured one of the last remaining morsels of quality and insight left on the PBS brand. Nova was turned into vanilla pudding years ago. Frontline has gone downhill since Lowell Bergman was forced out a few years ago. And now.... one can hope. Or one can be a realist.... Does NASCAR have a show on Friday nights?
