Startup Cop Pro (ZD PC Mag Utility)

This startup organizer is a very moderately priced keeper and after using it for several days with XP (to replace its predecessor) I do not hesitate to recommend it here:

pcmag.com

There is a pretty good expanded description of the utility at the sidebar of the above link.

It's a completely reworked update to the venerable freeware "Startup Cop" that ZD PC Magazine published in the WIN98 era way back when their Utility Library did not charge for downloads (boo, hiss), and I've used it on a variety of platforms since it was 1st released.

It's a much more versatile tool than msconfig|startup and I prefer it to other startup organizers I've tried. One of it's best features is the capability to save a variety of startup profiles (full, lean, minimal, etc.) and reboot into the most appropriate one. It also flags known spyware/malware in the description field.

It has a host of other nice features and a short learning curve.

Since I don't have the annual $19.95 "Library" subscription ($14.95 with an annual PC Mag subscription) I chose the $9.95 option entitling me to this and 2 more downloads in 30 days. I consider it a bargain at that price and will pick out 2 more utilities from the library at my leisure.

Best to all,
