Ummm, I have a rather good comeback for this, but in one of those very rare instances on SI, I am going to restrain myself. You don't qualify as a free fire zone. :-)

He graduated from Yale. A top Ivy League school. Skull and Bones. BA in History. Later got an MBA from Harvard. Became a successful businessman. This idiot also served as Governor of Texas. Multimillionaire. Wouldn't you like to be dumb enough to achieve that?

Many highly successful people have dyslexia and learning disabilities and STILL manage major achievements.

On the other side of this: JFK, LBJ, Carter. Smart men. Disasters as Presidents. You really don't get any worse than LBJ, do you? JFK, so brilliant he couldn't get a Dem legislative program through a Dem Congress. And let the Bay of Pigs run when any idiot should have known that it either had to have effective air support or be cancelled. Carter, who stood by and let and embassy staff be taken hostage and then nation be humiliated and did essentially nothing about it.

If this is where brilliance leads, please, God, send us more goofusses.

That we maybe have a president who isn't a laughing stock in the entire rest of the world because he's so clearly a goofus?
NOBODY, Madam, laughs at a thousand megatons.

True as that is, it would still be desirable, imo, if the most powerful human being on the planet could express a thought more complex than See Spot Run, or even just talk -- just frame a normal sentence, fer chrissake. Is that asking too much? That we maybe have a president who isn't a laughing stock in the entire rest of the world because he's so clearly a goofus?

Y'know E, I'm sure as hell glad it was GWB in the White House when we were hit on 9/11 and not Al Gore.

I could give a s*** about Bush's public speaking ability. They guy has convictions and, unlike most politicians, stands by them.

As for the "entire rest of the world," who are you referring to? France (who's sorry ass the US liberated in WW2), Germany?
