I have not seen the film. But given what I have read of it, why should I assume otherwise? There seems unanimity in ascribing blame for Christ's death to the Jews. (The Romans want a rabble rousing revolutionary dead? Nah. Not a chance.) This seemingly is a classic charge used against them. This in spite of the fact the Christ was unquestionably Jewish.

As for E, why, I bet she tortures the poor man with other books too.

Do you really think Gibson's intentions are malevolent?

I myself haven't for a moment implied that "Gibson's intentions are malevolent," as you will see if you review what I"ve posted.

The producer's "intentions" are no more the subject of my comments than is the quality of the movie "as a movie," to borrow a phrase used by someone else. (I believe his intention (aside from making money) is to spread the "Word" as he sees it, believing, as he does, erroneously, that it is historical truth.)

I'm sure it's a striking film, and who knows, perhaps a masterpiece, its message or social effects aside, as is Triumph of the Will, "as a movie," and aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

Could be that the alarmed reports are wrong. It's undoubtedly the case that the verdict will differ according to a number of factors influencing perception.
