Point of law. Minors are considered as unable to make certain decisions until they become 'of age'. IMO 18 is an age when we start to mature enough to make such decisions. Besides, if we can send an 18 year old to fight and die, we should let them at least vote and make other important decisions, like marriage.

States rights. Some places nobody can drink at any age. You mix apples with oranges.

I do believe states should have exemptions for military ID cards allowing the use of alcoholic beverages.

However, the age to enlist as well as the draft age (when applicable) is a Federal statute as opposed to the drinking ages established by the states.

Please note on military, the age of drinking is determined by Federal statute, not the state.
