all makes sense but I am trying to adjust ot reality. There is no question that the investment is high risk as is any investment in RE dependable on operating profits - more so those with no long term leases.

Having a tax holiday to increase your ROI only lowers somewhat your risk and makes it easier to compete

<The income tax is the last remnant of feudalism.>

Not really. It's a biggie though. Most people don't realize they are still serfs, but on a grander scale. The deception of democracy gives an illusion of freedom, but without the reality.

Sure, one can move around the country at will, change jobs etc. But one needs a passport to move from one Lord's realm to another and serfs are not free to simply stay without serfdom of the new place being granted.

How about the military draft as another example of serfdom, lack of self-determination and confiscation against one's will, of the most personal property of all, one's actual life?

How about applying for permits and being refused to cut down trees on one's own property [or otherwise do anything on one's own property]?

There are masses of victimless "crimes", such as not wearing a crash helmet on a bicycle, smoking dope, not being allowed to buy vitamins or medicines, not being allowed to do all sorts of things.

There's serfdom all over the modern, free, democratic world.
