I think there is a lot of that going on - after all, how would it look to their clients if they "sold out" in January and the market continued to go up - wouldn't look very good would it? If I was one of those gurus, I know that I would have to work "extra hard" to try to make my scenario happen.

Well, I think what they want to do is drive the "overvalued" stocks down to "fair value" and then drive the stocks up to the overvalued level and start the cycle all over again. Some of these guys are probably pretty good at that routine.
