If Bush started a needless war on false pretext and if Cheney outed an undercover CIA agent out of revenge, those are both treasonous acts. The latter charge Bush Sr. himself called "treason". But being a war hero then coming home to protest the war in a responsible fashion is not even a million miles from treason. In fact, Kerry's actions saved lives and were perhaps even more daring and heroic than his battlefield exploits. Remember, in those days Nixon's people were actively trying to destroy anyone who threatened to tell the people the truth abuot the war. Remember The Pentagon Papers. Ellsberg was tried for treason. But proved that the White House was lying and helped end the war.
