Partition Magic 8.0

<< Partition Magic 8.0. ... the quick start guide and it informed me that it could not be installed on NTFS only Fat 32. >>

I just checked my Partition Magic 8.0 User Guide and Quick Start Guide PDFs from my hard drive (and Help from the system) - albeit a pretty quick scan. I can't find anything saying it can't be installed on XP with NTFS, and it really surprises me that you are saying the quick start guide says it can't, but you no doubt have a later guide than mine.

I use 8.01 on an XP Home box, and 2 XP Pro boxes using a combo of FAT, NTFS, and FAT 32 partitions, but I think I used Partition Magic to change the C: drive from FAT 32 to NTFS in each case, but it has been a while since I did it so my recall is a little fuzzy.

I've been through many releases of PM over the years and knowing how thoroughly the installer checks the system before installing I'd almost be tempted to advise going ahead and attempting an install ...

... but I won't. <ggg>

You might try e-mailing Symantec support for advice on this issue since they've taken over from Powerquest from here:
