Mill died in 1873. All the countries that Hitler rolled over and occupied still had resistance forces who were quite brave, even the French. Lucky for the Europe that America came to their aid. Aaahhhhh.....given the era in which he lived, its sounds like Mill was talking about citizens who don't defend their country when its attack. Again, I ask the question.....what do you think he would think about fighting for a country like Hitler's Germany that attacks other countries pre-emptively under false pretenses?
