Probably true, but as a 52-year old woman in so-so health, I trust that they have too much sense than to appoint me to walk point in a combat zone.

So, I am not one to judge the actions of others. But even when I was an 18 year old girl, and contemplated "right action" - I would not have gone as a combatant. If drafted - I might have gone to Canada, although probably not. I probably would have tried to get into something that did not require being infantry - at the very least, medic. My ancestors who served in the military seemed to have gravitated towards Quartermaster Corps. My dad was a musician during Korea.

I'd be brave enough to act as defense, but not offense.

Vietnam is a very strange episode in the history of this country, one I suppose we'd rather forget.
