I'm sure Bushies are overspending on military now. I'll bet there's tons of pork barrel spending plus a few SDI type boondoggles costing tns of billions which don't even work. Everyone if for a strong and potent defense, but leaving defense spending off the table in terms of possible cuts is just stupid. Halliburton for instance has proven it's over-chaging the Pentagon by hundreds of millions. All that waste needs to be eliminated.

We should start charging nations that benefit from our military. For instance, once Afghanistan & Iraq become stabilized, they could start repaying the USA on the installment plan. Training a well-disciplined, effective volunteer military seems to be one of our areas of expertise, other nations could hire a certain portion in order to improve the quality of their own troops & in that way our fighting forces would become self supportive. The tax revenues saved could be directed to social security & other endangered programs.
