You are too kind, M, but Thanks!! The Stalin report was so very very sad....I really hadn't realized the extent of what had happened to the people when he decided to "collectivize" the country. They interviewed 3 older women who had survived....but none of them could talk without their eyes crying, while you knew they were trying not to cry. How horrible to see your husband killed in front of you, or your parents, and in many cases, your children as well.

One older woman told about a long ago friend, who staved to death eventually, who had 3 children, one of whom was seriously ill. She only had two slices of bread left, and had to make the terrible decision not to give any bread to the child who was sick, because he was near death already.

These people were mostly descendants of the serfs of earlier centuries, whose ancestors had worked and worked, and finally earned the right to garner the tiny plots as their land. Stalin and his murdering thugs were more terrible than most of us knew, and on such a huge scale it indeed was staggering to think about.

I kept thinking...."What if"....Already there are many people who consider that is perfectly all right that the US taxman take more than 50% on one's income. Of course, this doesn't include SS, State taxes, and local taxes.....

Another thing to look for........See if ANY of the candidates will answer the question" "At what income, do you consider someone/or a family, rich?"

If I see that the program will be on again, will let you know....

My understanding of the Ukraine famine is that the Ukrainian wheat harvest was sold in the foreign markets in order to earn hard currency in order to buy factory equipment for the Five Year Plan. Incidentally the man made famine had the collateral effect of starving the Kulaks (rich peasants) who were considered troublemakers.
