One of the side effects politically of Mel's movie is going to be the huge attempt to paint him with his Father's views. I see that his Father has been interviewed extensively lately and these tapes and transcripts are now being pushed hard by the media. When the Movie opens, they will start really pushing the line that the Christian Movie-goers are anti-semites.

An underlying belief among Liberals is that anti-semitism is a Right Wing thing. This movie gives them a chance to push it. Their dislike of Israel has nothing to do with anti-semitism, of course.

<<lower-income and less-educated Americans — are also more likely to be evangelicals.>>

I remember a huge fight on another thread a while back over this assertion. I notice it's stated matter-of-factly in this report of the results of the survey.

Another example of liberal bias, I suppose. <g>

That survey was interesting.

<<But fewer than one in 10 Americans say all Jews today are responsible for the death of Jesus, as some literal interpretations of the Bible suggest. >>

If you look at that question as a Martian might, it's obvious that today's Jews cannot be responsible for something that happened two thousand years ago even if the fault was, in fact, that of their ancestors. The answer to the question is so obvious as to be considered a fact, something to which there is a correct and incorrect answer. So, the ten percent or so that answered in the affirmative are either sub-humanly stupid or they are bigots. While my confidence in the intelligence of the American public is not great, it still seems that that question is a good proxy for the amount of anti-semitism we have amongst us.

The rest of the poll, the control questions, well, that's interesting in a different way.
