That's very complex, but even a cursory glance is a reminder of how vacuous is a claim that Mel Gibson's movie based on those humanly-edited, dubiously ordered, and problematically-translated Gospels (plus that hallucinating nun's testimony) is "the truth," or "historically accurate."

It could be a skillful and effective piece of cinematic art, of course, as it is intended to be, just as are Oliver Stone's "historical" accounts. I never don't like Oliver Stone, and dare say I wouldn't however "good as a movie" one of his signature productions was.
