I don't know about the site. Maybe someone else does.

Kazaa is horrible in many, many ways. Use WinMX - no spyware. However, you MUST run virus software of some sort, no matter what you use to download. Not having it allowed someone to hijack your PC and use it to send spam email. Tsk!

Last week I got the free version of AVG from Grisoft. It ran for a very long time the first time and found 27 different viruses on my machine. I scheduled it to run again that midnight and it found 6 more. It kills them or buries them. I'll never be without this thing. Especially after spending hours yesterday dealing with a Trojan Horse.

>>I need the site [it was posted here once], that shows what programs are and are not needed when you start up your computer

This might help.

TASK LIST PROGRAMS
(including WinNT4/2000/XP/2003 Services)

Through our support service we often come across problems caused primarily by programs running in the background, programs which in most cases start at the same time as Windows. Sometimes these programs are useful and need to be there; quite often, however, they are not needed, and in too many cases they cause severe problems, and this includes some Microsoft "Services" !

The pages below are from our in-house database and provide guidance on the usefulness or not of these programs and services, and removal procedures when recommended.

In Windows 95/98/ME you can bring up the Task List by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. In Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003 you bring up the Task List by right-clicking on the Task Bar and choosing "Task Manager".

By the way, did you know that Roadrunner is offering free CA virus and firewall software to their customers?
