I think Edwards will go after Kerry in the sense that he will use the debates to show that he is clearly the preferable candidate. He won't defer to Kerry.

But since Edwards is already on the record saying he won't run a negative campaign, he has only so much leeway. I think one of the marks of a great politician is to be able to attack his opponents without seeming to attack them.
