At present, they're still interrogating the detainees. think it is a major mistake to accept the premise that we will forego trying to interrogate terrorists because they were captured on what is generally thought of as a battlefield rather than in a city "What is generally thought of as a battlefield"??? Hello? Would it help to remind you that we are talking about Afghanistan, a country flat out INVADED by US military??? So, yes, it was "generally thought of as a battlefield", LOL. Osama bin Ladin was last heard from (not counting audiotapes of dubious authenticity) at Tora Bora where he was commanding Al Qaeda forces fighting againt the American INVADERS. Now if he had been captured at Tora Bora, a battlefield to be sure, your argument is that we would have to treat him as a POW and forego interrogating him because of the Geneva Convention. After all, as you go on to say.... .. a person can be a number of things at once - architect, thief, senator, for example. And than that thief can be fighting against an invader and would be a POW. These are not contradictions. And it is the ACTIVITY that counts rather than the PLACE. Of course, if captured, the idea that we should refrain from interrogating Osama bin Ladin and be ready to release him when "hostilities cease" is ridiculous.
