"Insofar as all of creation is the work of God and science is the study of creation it seems to me that science can teach us some things about God. If we are made in the image and likeness of God than both natural science and social science can help our understanding the Almighty."

That is a good argument. I think that is true of pure science. Each advance is like removing a razor-thin layer of onion skin, which may not not get you to the bottom of the matter, but leaves you slightly closer than you were before.

I'm in favor of space telescopes, Mars missions, you name it if it gets us out there, I'm for it.

Personally, I believe that we were made in the image and likeness of God, but I also believe a rock or a brick was made in the image and likeness of God.
