so stick with the 15 RMB DVD's, and you're still doing better than Blockbuster

You overpaid. It's more like 7-8 RMB, or $0.9-$1 a piece.

Thanks. I hope I am not taking up too much bandwidth talking DVDs but I guess Luc will threaten me if I am.

I was using my Windows services to examine my newly-bought DVD burner --it's a NEC. And I find that I am allowed exactly four changes of region code and then I am stuck with whatever it is at then. The default is region 1, which I guess is US and UK. I think that's a really weird little piece of protectionism.

There's an article on the pirate program in the Wall Street Journal today--I forget the name of the company that makes the XCOPY software. The article is a pretty good source of information about how to copy things.

I bet there were people who argued against the printing press making copies of the Bible because it was no longer the Word of God! The availability of Bibles certainly was a factor in the Protestant Reformation.

Hard to see bootlegged copies of "Sex and the City" being of similar importance.
