My cousin, retired Miami detective, did the same in Bosnia. Family rumor mill has it he made a lot of money doing it but, you know how accurate those sources are.

My friend leaves for 2 weeks at FT. Bragg tomorrow for training and shots, then on to Kuwiat. The been retired 3 years or less from police work program to train the new police force in Iraq.

I can confirm the recruiting has been heavy for the past several months. For a while, I was getting 2 or more job offers weekly.

The successful training and organization of an effective Iraqi police force both local and national is imo a key if not "the key" to a final terrorist solution in Iraq. But it can only be organized to do this in a free Iraq. The previous police force was part of the terrorist problem not part of the solution. The only way to get a free Iraq was military action.

Kerry says terrorism is a police matter. Well within the confines of a single free nation such as America or The UK, I agree with him (i.e. McVeigh). But tell me how do you get an effective local police force and FBI to take care of the terrorist problem in a country like Afghanistan with the taliban in power or Iraq with saddam in power. The answer of course is you don't.

Kerry believes we have a police problem. He doesn't seem to understand that when the forces of one country kill 3,000 members of another country you only send police to the scene to assist the victims, provide security, and look for clues. You do not get to send a few black and white patrol cars and some detectives to the offending country to make arrests. That is the job of our Armed Forces. And when our Armed Forces deploy in this manner, it is called war.

The same MO is practiced world-wide. You see police at the scene of the suicide attacks in Israel and the Israeli Army taking appropriate action against the attackers' organization.

We did not send the Honolulu Police to Tokyo to make arrests after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Yet that apparently is what Kerry thinks we should have done after 9/11.
