The more I look at the action, the more it appears that we had a coordinated effort to push up the stocks so that they could be shorted en mass.

What's most striking to me, after reviewing Don's timely charts, is that the biggest pig in the group has completely outperformed the rest (MOT). This tells me that the street is up to it's old gamesmanship. The more I see these types of charts, the less concerned I am for the long haul.

This type of momentum is designed to keep you scratching your head in wonder!

Brian, I don't think you are missing anything, it's just that we didn't fully recognize the classic setup. I mentioned gap and crap on Thursday but I have to admit that I didn't expect this to continue for 3 straight days. Now that the momentum is in place, I completely agree with RtS that one should wait until a clear reversal is in place before taking on new positions.

Brian, I just got through looking over industry and sector charts a little while ago and I have reached some conclusions.

investorshub.com

stockcharts.com

I see strength in areas of the market that are typical in the middle of an economic expansion. I see weakness in those areas of the market like technology that are typically strong earlier in an economic expansion.

What I see is simple rotation out of technology into other areas of the market that we would not consider so enthralling. That rotation may be in error as the SCE stocks certainly would seem to have substantial earnings momentum. Especially companies like AMAT seem to have beat estimates and raised the bar. But if the institutional investor does not rotate back into technology stocks then it does not matter how much more these companies will earn one quarter, two quarters, or more, from now the stocks cannot rise with just us retail investors buying.

It's all supply and demand. Right now there is more stock for sale than there are buyers to take in in Techland.

That could change as early as tomorrow. Or perhaps it might take a little while longer but even if we have to eventually endure a new downtrend there will be buying opportunities for short term traders. Eventually another excellent buying opportunity will be offered to us at a real long term bottom and bargain basement prices.

Thanks for the tables Don!

JMHO on all the above except for thanking Don for his hard work.
