Not so sure about that one, we went for more than just oil. Although, it would definitely remove cash from that part of the world, maybe they'd have to get jobs instead of living off the good graces of the kingdom.

I don't think it was out of context. We wouldn't be anywhere close to energy independent by giving up SUVs.

If this country were energy independent we wouldn't have thought about going into Iraq.

Energy independence wouldn't be easy and it would be very expensive.

Even if we were energy independent it may have made no difference with the Iraq situation.
