Searle,

I like Lew Rockwell's anti-war and anti-neocon rants. I would love it if his obituary for the neocons were accurate, but I'm afraid that I still see them in positions of power, controlling the agenda at the White House and at the Pentagon.

World Socialist Web Site ran a piece a month or so ago about military preparedness among U.S. forces. The gist of the article is that both the Navy and Army are on a track to have refitted, repaired and ready carrier task forces and redeloyment of Army/Marine units by September at the latest.

While there is a rumor circulating that Karl Rove has said "no war in 2004", the WSWS author seems to see that there is every possibility that we are building to a crescendo of "readiness" in September, and all that will be required to send us into the next spasm of war is a fabricate incident. Like, say WMDs, or a Tonkin Gulf type thing at the Iranian or Syrian border with Iraq.

I wouldn't put it past Bush to see it as being to his advantage to be fully in flangrante belli delicto on November 2.

As the saying goes, American's don't like to changes horse's asses in the middle of a stream.
