A tidbit of information: I actually used to work at Syncrude / Mildred Lake. Right after I got my Instrumentation ticket - about 15 years ago - I was up there for a turnaround for about 4 months. Made a pile of cash BTW. Syncrude is quite the place. I'm sure its bigger now - but even in those day it was huge. Everything is done on a super gigantic scale. The tailings pile alone was 20 miles around. I didn't work for Sycrude outright but a contractor, but Sycrude was rated one of the top three companies to work for in Canada then. Very technically innovative. I was offered a permanent job but wanted to go back home.
