Support for Civil Unions John Kerry supports same-sex civil unions so that gay couples can benefit from the health benefits, inheritance rights, or Social Security survivor benefits guaranteed for heterosexual couples. No finger in the air needed. He's already made his statement on his web site. johnkerry.com I think that Bush is the one that is going to come out looking stupid on this issue. Bush doesn't hurt himself by being devisive on this issue, as he didn't have those votes anyway, and people that are strongly against gay marriage were already in his column.
