One of my main questions is how long this foreign buying of the USD will, and can, last. The equivalent of tens/hundreds of billions of dollars are being thrown at supporting the USD, yet it is obvious that this is having little effect. IMHO the effect on interest rates would be profound if this support were to end. I just can't see how any entity can afford to endlessly spend the equivalent of billions of dollars and get nothing in return... Just because it does not make sense to you does not meand it does not make sense to them. Look at Europe now. Europe is bitching to high heavens about the US$. There may soon be yet another player stepping up to buy US$. Japan is pissed at Europe for threatening to intervene as well. Multiple levels of currency wars? You Bet! BTW - You are very mistaken that they are getting nothing out of it. Lots of posts on my board have shown what they get out of it. I will go try and find the last one. Mish
