Just think about 'CONfidence' numbers if/when people discover that housing values can go down as well as up. I remember my father telling me that when he was kid, you were lucky to break even on a house, as most lost money. Our consumer economy seems to be propped up by only one thing now, the ability to keep drawing off more & more equity from their main source of wealth.... A nation of upside down borrowers will not end well.. Things to watch: Wed. we get existing home sales data Thurs. we get durable goods, jobless claims & new home sales Fri. we get consumer sentiment, NAPM & GDP numbers!!! WOW.
