The gay community is demanding non-discriminatory application of the laws. See my previous post to you on this. If the gov't is going to be in the marriage business, they need to be non-discriminatory.

I believe that sexual orientation falls into the same category as race in the eyes of the law for employment. If the gov't passed laws requiring businesses to be non-discriminatory based on sexual orientation, why shouldn't the gov't be held to the same standard?

I have no problem with civil unions. Nothing wrong at all with giving health insurance benefits and other benefits to a partner.

But, to call it marriage IMO is over the top.
