Ah... 'Bluto'.... Hasn't popular politics in a Democracy always (from the Greeks onward) been denigrated for it's 'rush to the bottom'... or it's appeal for the 'lowest common denominator'? I am mindful of Tocquiville's comments (although he clearly saw through to a silver lining, to a strength that rises from below....) Meanwhile, I guess you could look upon the zanniness of this thread --- and it's denizens --- as an excursion into 'applied Sociology' and popular culture....
