Any amendment is doomed to failure. American people are too accepting of civil unions to put up the necessary numbers to prevent gay marriage which is just a variant of that. Since i am still against gay marriage, i think i have to reconcile myself to losing this battle. Bush knows this too and his support for this amendment is just a sop to the religous right. The only thing that can stop the spread of gay marriage from state to state(one state honoring another) is the SCOTUS checking runaway courts, and mayors. Mike
