"I got burned so bad I had to stay in bed for several days."

Yeah that happened to my dad, my mom and us went to visit her family up north and dad did a "boys night out" fishing trip with his buddies to the Keys. When we got back he had been to the dermatologist already, looked like a space alien, had a couple of skin cancers since then.

The intensity of the sun in the keys is unbelievable. Even if you grew up in Florida it is harsh.

Worst I ever experienced was on a trip on the river that seperates Mexico and Guatemala. Even though I was born and raised in south Florida, I had to wear long-sleeved shirts, the sun was just too intense.
