Hey Sarmad,

It's a wet and dreary morning here, so indulge me for a minute to pursue this matter. Your characterization of the WDC analytical community (carnival barkers)is quite harsh. I know that you follow this stock more closely than I do, so let me ask you: Is there not one single analyst out there who has done a reasonably competant job on WDC, or is your description applicable to the lot of them? Is WDC unique in this respect, or are they as bad on every other company as well? Is their commentary or analysis useful at all to you -- perhaps as a contrary indicator? [If so, the picture must be somewhat discouraging, as an increasing number of them have been rating WDC as a strong buy lately. finance.yahoo.com]

In any case, I am curious as to what you think is the root cause of the "analytical problem": outright attempt to manipulate the market (garden variety securities fraud); more subtle attempt to coax people to trade by rumor mongering, etc.; ignorance; laziness; the monumental difficulty of the task at hand (maybe we can outsource it to some country where a six figure salary means something); other???
