I just lost a longer exposition inadvertently, so I will cut to the chase:

I think it is a good idea to plan against contingencies. I always said that the report envisioned a worst case scenario. I never denied that the authors took it seriously, I merely said that it did not constitute an official rebuttal of Administration policy, even obliquely. My reference to malinterpretation came in the wake of your denial that you meant to imply that this report had a bearing on the Administration's position on global warming or Kyoto. It is true that I did not read all pertinent matter in the thread, but I found myself at a loss to know why we were discussing the work in the face of your disavowals, and I was beyond caring to puzzle it out.......
