Re: Greenspan proposes cutting Social Security Benefits, rather than increasing taxes on the wealthy, as a solution for reducing the budget deficits. Sounds like a great campaign issue.

Today, I listened to talk radio for a couple of hours just to "taste" the wind.

The Dittohead crowd is still getting fed a healthy dosage of "it's your money" from both Rush and a Portland talker named Lars Larson. I am convinced that there is a huge number of people in their audience who basically hate paying taxes enough to blind themselves to the fact that the tax cuts benefit only a tiny minority of people who are too sophisticated to listen to claptrap like the talkers provide.

But that No-Nothing Party that Rush and Lars cater to are virulent and rabidly anti-taxes. So, they will continue to vote to end government services and damn it, "it's your money".....

Which, I reckon, is a long winded way to say that I disagree about how good a campaign issue this Greenspan testimony will be for Kerry or Edwards.

His Republican biases were certainly showing through today. We need an apolitical Fed Chairman.
