Too much of the tax law is ambiguous. The example you mention brings to mind other devices one might use at work such as a calculator or tape recorder.

I know a guy that has a telephone collection agency. Over a year after he started his business, he received a bill from the state for sales taxes. He fired his CPA that was supposed to inform him on such matters. I don’t know how the state justifies sales tax for collecting bad debt, but they do.
