Actually it's remarkable that he took on two sacred cows in two days: the GSEs and Social Security. Isn't he up for reappointment in April? Maybe he's out and knows it, and is just taking a final shot at some real issues, to give Bush the excuse not to reappoint him? Personally I think he wants out. In his mind he defeated the K-Winter. Why not go out on top. Whatever happens after this he will blame his successor, deficit spending, congress, and his aunt Martha if need be. Look out for his replacement.
