Vicious circle with no escape... would need a major industry to harness the labor and improve their lot IMHO. cia.gov Politics is one of the major problems there. Average life span of 51 years... size of my state MARYLAND.

Security Council to address situation Thursday Wednesday, February 25, 2004 Posted: 10:19 PM EST (0319 GMT) (CNN) -- The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a ship and a freighter with Haitians aboard, just hours after President Bush warned Haitians not to try to escape the political turmoil and violence in their country by sailing to the United States. Bush said Wednesday any Haitians doing so would be turned back. The freighter was intercepted about 10 miles off the Florida coast near Miami at 5:20 p.m., after the Coast Guard received a radio report from the captain about 4:30 p.m. saying there was a security situation on board, the Coast Guard said. cnn.com
