ireland has a 22% and 44% income tax rate and another 6% to 8% for social program.. unemployment etc.

Looks like if you begin to make any decent wages you are in a 44% tax bracket and pay vat ..

ps there are a joke going around when they were changing over to the euro. all the money under the mattress was coming out and folks where buying new furniture , cars, machines etc. They hide the income and use barter as best possible to avoid taxes. gg

No Mike, they have higher income taxes than us, AS WELL AS, high sales (or VAT) taxes -- as well as high SS taxes. However, in Europe dividend and capital gains taxes are lower than the US or non-existent.
