No, just as reminding people after a plane crash that many more die in car accidents is not the same. Viscerally. Rationally, OTOH, plane travel is demonstrably safer.

You still don't get it. The point is, that a murder did not just 'happen' - someone did it deliberately, and I want justice done to him, for the sake of his victim, and to stop him and others from doing it again. That is a most rational reaction to a murder. But not to a case of flu, however common it may be.
