Interesting questions that could yield hours of engaging conversation. Maybe someday the dolphins will evangelize us to evolve into sea creatures in time to avoid the next ice age or meteor or nuclear disaster. There is some language work going on with primates, but it is fairly slow going so far. They don't seem that interested in talking with us, but maybe some day we'll find a way to relate better. Jewish and Christian scripture talks about all of creation groaning under the current state of affairs, anticipating god returning the universe to health and unity. The picture goes back to the garden of Eden story, basically. That would include dolphins and all the animals. Maybe the dolphins are already there, and we are the ones who have lost our way. The hope is that right relationship with god will result in peace and wholeness for everyone and everything in the end. That seems a useful enough hope to me. I don't get a faith that allows for harming or even disrespecting others. The issue raises the questions of right relationship to god and others, and how to return to it if it is lost, etc. Too much to start on right now.
