And thats how free trade works for us. It grows the markets we sell to by giving them relatively high paying jobs and thus new disposable income.
Job Problem in the US should self correct. Better education from cradle to grave will help alot as will retraining of workers directly impacted by outsourcing. Perhaps we can make folks who outsource bear some of that burden(retraining) propotional to the size of the job loss. It might make marginal outsource prospects think twice.
Protectionism is demogoguery. No one who studies it really believes it can work but many are fooled. And like with wmds the free trade side shouldnt exaggerate job creation from programs like nafta either. They should stress the growing the markets theory as expressed in this article. mike
