"Da Vinchi Code" opens up a whole other direction to take on Jesus and the early Christian beginnings.
I haven't read it yet... but will.

One interesting point.... The early Roman Catholic church choose to consolidate power by maintaining the second class citizenship of women... from celibacy to doctrine and for all intense and purpose... drove them out of participating in the churches hierarchy.

Some scholars believe this was a direct result of denouncing and driving out the Mary Madeline tradition that believed she was the wife of Jesus. There was a very powerful group of Christians in the southern part of France near Spain that maintained these traditions for centuries.

The persecution of these French Christians by the Roman Catholic church, who later became known as Protestants, falls into the turmoil surrounding the Knights of The Templar. There's a tremendous resurgence of interest in this particular historical group... many believe that authentic documents exist to support their beliefs.

What we might be witnessing.... is the resurgence of a Jungian Archetype.... "The Feminine Mystic Principal"..... to revive and renew respect for the Anima/Animus of our psychological life and it's valuable place in our daily lives.
